Sloan Henderson drops Kil-Kare...

Wow! The move to drop Kil-Kare out of my schedule has really paid off. The crew and I all agreed that we needed to focus on one track. I think it was the right decision, for now.   I will let the stats speak for themselves. We have had three history making weeks in a row! At Columbus Motor Speedway, I was the first female to set fast time. The following week, I was the first female to win all three events-fast time, dash, and feature winner.

Last Saturday, I hit another first milestone at the same track. On an extremely hot night, with potential investment partners at the track, we set a new track record. The crew deserves all the credit and I am so proud to be part of our team.
   The GreenPro NASCAR Whelen Late Model was great in the dash race. I had to start in the rear again! However, I was able to work my way up to second by a few inches!! Honestly
   The feature was awesome. It was the John Nuckles Memorial Race so it was a special race that was 75 laps instead of the usual 35. It was great because I had 20 cars to race with. The Bond Machine crew gave me a great car to drive. My line didn’t move so I had to drop back to start to go forward on the inside line. At about lap seven, I started to pick off cars one at a time on the outside. By lap 30, the Koehkle Component NWAAS Late model was in position to challenge the race leader. It was quite the battle. It was back to back and side by side racing for the rest of the 45 laps. I was able to bring home another top 3 finish! I am amazed and blessed to be doing so well I am doing in spite of not having an anchor sponsor in 2010.
   We made the trip to get my birthday present. A male Australian Shepherd puppy and he is a red merle.    I have a miniature Aussie already. Jill is around 8 yrs old and a great best friend. We have an awesome outside guard dog. Jack doesn’t let anybody near the house. He is very protective but not playful.
   Dad got invited to a Rotary Club meeting in Cincinnati. It is where he met Mr. Scherzinger. Dad and I will be meeting him after the 8:20 am Fox 19 interview on Wednesday.   We are also opening up an office in Mason soon. We want to thank Intelligent Office for the very nice office space and Business support Services. You Probably don’t know anybody that want to be part of NASCAR Whelen History in 2010 but if you do, We still are looking for partners so we can start running at Kil-Kare again.
   FREE lunch Thursday. I will be at National Bank and Trust Company’s Midsummer Break on Thursday, July 29 from 11:00 am to 1 pm in Springboro with the Rebel 105.9 NASCAR Whelen LM race car Sunday, I will also be on NASCAR Sirius radio channel 128 with Pat Patterson at 9:10 and 700 WLW , that’s August 1st, from 7:00-8:30 pm. “don’t think I can talk that long” . Lastly, I will also be in the Carlisle River Days parade.

Sloan Henderson wins at Columbus...

The last couple of weeks have been amazing. It started with our win at Columbus Motor Speedway on my birthday. The next week, we broke the track record at Columbus. The following week, we broke the track record at Kil-Kare. This week, the GreenPro landscaping Koehlke Components Whelen Late Model made the long ride to win the Robbie Dean 94 Lap Memorial Race at Kil-Kare!

    The day at Kil-Kare started out rough. The Rebel 105.9 car was slow. The crew was a little perplexed as to “why” I wasn’t getting the speed out of it. It was a weird feeling in the car I couldn’t quit describe it was hard to drive. I ended up qualifying a disappointing seventh. The inversion put me starting on the inside second row. I guess if there has to be clouds; the silver lining was the inversion.
    The start of the race went very well and by the second lap I was able to take the lead. I got out front and stayed there. It was a nail bitter race as David Carter ended up challenging me for the lead from about half way through the race to the end. However, in the end the GreenPro landscaping Koehlke Components Whelen Late Model had what it took to bring home the trophy and the cash to the team. The trophy is very unique. It is the first of its kind replica helmet of Robbie “Big Bird” Dean’s helmet.   I also got a stuffed animal “Big Bird”. The Kil-Kare track officials were kind enough to give me the checkered flag.
    Saturday racing at Columbus Motor Speedway was a long night. Gary and the guys had found the problem with the car from yesterday but we can afford to have backup part in stock so we had to use older parts. We also had a hard time figuring out the vibration that was coming from and luckily it was just a bushing in the transmission. This those issue fixed, I qualified second and, somehow, I picked up 2 tenths of a second. I qualified second, so I started 3rd in the dash. It is very hard because it is a short race. I was unable to get around for a pass.   I started the Feature on the inside third row. My line didn’t move so I ended up dropping back so I could move forward. The race leaders had already broke away from the pack before I could set sail to track down the leader. I was picking up 4 to 5 car lengths a lap and was up to the leader. They had just lapped another car and when I got to him his tire went down. He came down. I had to lift of the throttle to avoid getting in a wreck.   After that, I set my sights on winning again but ran out of laps. There was no yellow flag the whole race witch mare it hard to get caught up.
Our new Sloan’s Crusaders is going great. People from all over the county have started supporting my racing. These are a few of the states from which Crusader’s come from: Florida, Texas, California, New Jersey, and two from Ohio. Danny Haines, Barrie Green, Karla Helton, Dana Rittgers, Robert Blake, and Jim Williams all now have their names on my NASCAR Whelen Late Model. David Tipton suggested the idea on FB.   New members just this weekend include Edward Reinmann, Jeff Repko, Jonathan Evens and Springboro’s own Joyce Summer.   The Crusader are people that want to be part of racing history and the NASCAR Camping Word Truck Quest for 2011. They can be part of it for just a $10 a month donation. We met with the senior VP of National Bank and Trust he was very nice.   They just bought our hometown Community National Bank but we have not heard back from them just yet. The weather was great Friday night. It was a great nigh to break the track record at Kil-Kare and our team did just that. We broke two track records in six days! Way to go to my crew!!

Springboro Midsummer Break at National Bank and Trust was an honor to be asked to attend. It was very nice to meet all the fans. I enjoy meeting with Keith and the Local Domino. I hope all the younger fans had a great time sitting my car! Thanks to everyone who came by and introduced themselves!!
Saturday at Columbus Motor Speedway it looked like rain but clouds broke. The sun came out and we were set for making fast time. We have set fast time there three weeks in a row. Unfortunately, I had to start in ninth for the feature. A spin out and I had to go down. There was no warning and I got into the back of the car in front of me. After 15 laps, I got a flat. Unfortunately if you save the car with a flat there is no yellow, so I went five laps down before I could get off track.
I also was a guest on NASCAR Sirius radio Sunday morning. Later in the day, I was a guest on 700 WLW with Segman and the crew from KOI Auto Parts. It was a great experience! It turns out, it is a small world. My grandfather and one of the staff members father worked together at Chrysler in Dayton! They also attended Stebbins High School with my aunt!

Sloan Henderson's year getting better and better...

The year just gets better and better. It also gets more and busier. I had several things going on this week. I had a lot of meetings and we had to do a lot of work on my car.
    First, we spent a lot of time at the beginning of the week working on the car. We had problems with the starter. We decided to go to Columbus to test on Thursday.    The test went very well. Our Dodge track started making a new noise but we had to go on.

    We spent the night in Columbus. I got up early and went to the track to do a morning show program in conjunction with Columbus Motor Speedway on Columbus ABC Channel 45. I mean I got up really early!! I had a great time doing a teaser and then several short interviews during the morning news. They also did an interview to air during the noon news.

    We then headed to Sidney to Sonic to do an autograph signing.   I was supposed to be there from 5pm to 7pm. We had a great turn out. The fans there were great! At 745pm people was still coming in to meet me.
    After we were finished at Sonic, we had to get the Koehlke components car back to the shop in Spring Valley.   The guys needed to make the necessary adjustments and fix a issue with the panhard bar for Saturday’s race in Columbus. The guys are the best. They told me to go on home and get some rest. It was a long time to get home. The transmission in dad’s truck went out so we had to call mom to come get us. It was a late night. Hopefully Aamco will stand behind it. We called and got a truck from GreenPro Landscaping, one of our sponsor, to get my car to Kroger and then on to Columbus.
    Saturday, I needed to be at Kroger in Middletown at 1pm. The Rebel 105.9 was doing a live broadcast as well. It was amazing the amount of fans that were there. Unfortunately, I could only stay a short time because I needed to head to Columbus. We even ran out of hero cards. We then started to head to the shop to get the guys and the car we had a blow out!

    Columbus Motor Speedway had also called.   Another Columbus news station, ABC 4, had called and wanted to do an interview. They asked if I could get to the track early to meet with that reporter.
    We got to Columbus Motor Speedway just in time, the reporter was waiting on me and I did an hour interview with him. We then went out for practice. Finally, I got to get in my car!! Practice went well and we made just a few adjustments.

    Qualifying time came and I was ready to get out on the track! I qualified fast time in the GreenPro Landscaping NASCAR Whelen LM! I was really excited to get the evening off to a good start. I was beyond happy when I won the fast car dash. I won it a few week ago but this time I started in last place and had the lead by lap two. Columbus has some great drivers and more car to race against.

    The feature race line up call finally came. I started on the third row outside. I didn’t think the line I was in was going to move so I was a little concerned. The race started and my line moved. I was ready to make my move. I worked my way up to first place by the 10th lap. We had three cautions. I was able to maintain my lead to the finish line! It was beyond awesome. It was my 18th birthday. My family, friends, and crew were all there. It was the most amazing thing to have the fans in the stands break out into the “Happy Birthday” song! After pictures and my victory lap, the track asked me pull my car behind the stands so all the fans could come down and get autographs. I spent an hour and couldn’t get to everyone who wanted to meet me but track security said we needed to cut it short because the last race almost over.

    I have to admit the busy last couple of weeks have been very stressful with the engine problems. I haven’t had any free time and not a lot of sleep. However, we have been working a long time to get the interview and appearances with Kroger. The stations and track in Columbus asked us so we had to fit it in and it went well. I really had wanted to have a big party for my 18th birthday. However, God planned a much bigger and better party than we could have ever put together. It was a day I will never forget. I got fast time, won the dash, and then won the feature. It was the first time in Columbus Motor Speedway’s history that a female had accomplished all three and maybe in America? The weather hasn’t been too bad just hot. However, my engine has been a real problem which has been making me and the crew sweat!   It all started just before the Franklin, July 4th Parade. More about that later!

The Franklin, July 4th Parade was very fun. I have never been a Grand Marshal before so it was all new to me. White-Allen Chevrolet sent a really awesome truck that was supposed to pull my car. However, the guys were busy trying to get my engine back together so my car didn’t make it to the parade. The crew had worked on my car until 4 am on Saturday morning. I was up until 1 am so I was tired. However, I was so excited to get to rededicate the Lyon’s Bridge! I am really proud of my hometown. It’s a great place to learn about life, God, and values! I want to thank everyone for their kind words and encouragement during the whole parade!

The whole engine issue …. Race engines are not like everyday car engines.   You are trying to get about 2 horsepower out of 1 cubic inch. Well, that puts a lot of strain on parts. We had Gary’s engine for his car out to a shop in Springfield so we tried a new builder.   It was unlikely to get both motors back in time if we sent them to the same builder. Dad head up to get my motor on Thursday. However, when he got there they were still working on it.   It was also decided to do some more to help get a little more power. Dad got in at 3 am Friday morning.   Everybody got to the shop early Friday evening to start putting the motor in. It was around 11 pm when we started it up.   It didn’t sound right so we pull the valve covers off.    We started it back up and it was better but still had a weird sound.   At midnight Gary called the engine builder, Ross, and they deiced to let it run a little longer. After that we saw what looked like water in the heads, somehow water was getting through the stud in the block and in the heads. Ross, the engine builder, decided to come to the shop. I decided to go home to get sleep because of the parade and Saturday race was a double point race.    I need to do well. I was told Ross and his son got to shop around 1:30 am. At 2 am, dad decided to call it a night because the car was show ready and the volunteer crew was getting tired.   Ross and his son said they would stay and get motor torn apart and my crew voluntary joined.      Dad left at 3am and I’m told they the rest of my crew finish up at 4am.

I got up at 7 am to get ready for the parade.   After the Parade, we met mom and dad’s families at Pisanello’s and had a quick lunch. Dad and I got down to the shop about 2 and they were all still working on the engine. In addition, we needed to do 2 hours of set up. About 4 PM, we started the motor and still didn’t get it 100% sealed up. The decision to throw in the towel in was made.

I didn’t get to race Columbus on July 3rd. We were all disappointed that we had worked so hard with little to show for it. However, we got a break because my point’s competitor had a bad night and didn’t finish well. Bad for him but good for me! At that point, I still had a 1 point lead in the state and lost 6 positions at CMS.
Finally, I got to race at Columbus, Saturday, July 10th.   It was a long road to get there! We had a flat tire on the trailer on the way.   I had one practice to shake down the new motor. We missed the 2nd and third practice do to starter issues. I had to push the car to the max in qualifying to learn what it could do. I got fast time!!! It was a first for me or any other female. Gary and the crew gave me a great car. The Dash race was fun, I finished 2nd after starting forth just behind the Oakley Asphalt car. Because I was the fastest car, I had to start at the end of the inversion. It took 3 starts to get one green flag lag in. The leader cars just didn’t fire hard and we would have to start again.    The nose of the car got pushed in and the car pushed really bad!!!! All I could get out of this car was 7th in the feature.   Not enough to stay in front in the points.

This Friday I be at Sonic in Sidney just off I-75, from 5-700pm so if you know someone that live up north please tell them to stop by!!! I will be also doing a recorded interview on MRN radio in Iowa, this Wednesday night at 4pm. Also, I am doing a promotional commercial for Columbus Motor Speedway next Friday.    I will also be at National Bank and Trust’s street/block party in Springboro on July 29th. In addition, I will also be in the parade for Carlisle Railroad Days in late August. Finally, don’t forget my weekly radio racing update on the Rebel 105.9 on Tuesdays at 2:45!!

We have been talking with a producer in California for about a year. He has been asking me to do a reality show. We finally have the contract worked out and signed. The next step is for him to sell the show to a network. He hopes to have it sold soon. If that goes well, they will be here filming soon. Dad says "all that and a dollar will get you a pop" We still got an opportunity for local company to do a cash and/or product sponsorship.   Any regional company can still get involved in a life time endorsement opportunity like GreenPro Landscaping and Koehlke Components. We still need at least 18k to have a strong chance to be the first female in America to win a state NWAAS championship.

We finally have had good weather. Friday at Kil-Kare, it was hot but no rain. We struggled in practice because we put a different set-up on the NASCAR Whelen Green Pro Koehlke Late Model. We made a few more adjustments before qualifying. I was able to qualify second. We didn’t run any heat races because of the special event with the figure eights cars. The feature seemed to start more quickly than usual. I worked my way up to second place. I was racing hard to try and pass the leader. I could gain on him everywhere except on turn four. I had a lot of forward bite. I decided I could get on the gas a little harder to try and get past him before turn four. Unfortunately, I got on the gas too hard and spun out. I had to go to the back of the pack. I had to work my way up by passing on the outside and I only had a few laps left. I ended up finishing in third but it was a great race and the fans loved it.
I got up Saturday and guess? It was raining. Thankfully, it quit raining by noon. We headed to the Motor Auto Body Shop early to meet Gary. We had a little confusion. Dad said he put my race bag in the trailer. I thought he meant he did that after I put it in my Jeep. We didn’t take my Jeep. We had his truck and my race bag was not in the trailer! Mom ended up running it to us. We were a little bit late but we still had time to get everything ready. We were pretty fast throughout the three practice sessions. We ended up qualifying third. The interesting thing is that between the top four qualifiers, there wasn’t even half a tenth of second! It was close. In the dash race, we had motor problems again. I ended up finishing fourth. We were also having battery problems all day. It made for a very hurried time between races. We made it in time for the feature. I worked my way up to fourth place. I had to settle for that.

I went with my dad to the CMN meeting at Bravo’s Restaurant. It was a great networking event. It was also educational. I was asked to consider being a guess speaker sometime

Here is your weekly letter from Sloan...

Whew, it was hot and humid this weekend! However, it wasn’t too bad on Friday night at Kil-Kare even though it was 92 degrees. I struggled in practice because my Koehlke GreenPro NASCAR Late Model was either drastically loose or tight. Gary and I talked it over about what the car was doing. Gary decided to make changes. I then went out and qualified 2^nd. Kil-Kare decided to do a full inversion. Bobbie Justice was not happy about the inversion and decided to leave. I had to start 2^nd to last. I was kind of worried about how the race was going to go with all the slower cars up front. The NASCAR Whelen Late Models usually race their feature first but because it was kid’s night at Kil-Kare, we went out third.

The first couple of laps in the feature were intense. I had to battle to get up to fourth. Gary Estes was leading. Mahaffey then hit Gary. Mahaffey had to go to the tail of the line-up. Gary was unable to return to the race because his car would not restart. Mahaffey from Oakley Asphalt apologized to Gary after the race what a sportsman. After the restart I was in second, it was some great racing wheel to wheel and trading some paint but because we got to put the car back in the trailer. I settled for a third place. I learned a few more things and had a great car

Kid’s night at Kil-Kare is a special evening where they offer rides to all the kids in the race cars. Each kid gets to come out to the infield and then ride a lap in one of the cars. They also get to play several games on the track. The kids and drivers really enjoy the evening.

Saturday, I woke up and it was raining. We were worried about getting the Columbus race in. We headed to Pisanello’s for lunch and discuss the weather with Gary. Tom Combs was at Pisanello’s and we got to see his pictures from a recent trip to Joe Gibbs Racing. It was decided that we would head to Columbus. The forecast was the rain would hold off until 5 or 6 pm. Dad said, “If it rains, we will be the fastest car in the trailer.”

We headed to Spring Valley to the Motorcar Auto Body Shop. Gary and the guys were already there working on the car. They made several adjustments. We loaded the NASCAR Whelen Rebel 105.9 car in the trailer and headed to Columbus.

Disappointingly, the rain started at Columbus when I went out to practice. The rain stopped quickly but it was then extremely humid and HOT! We were able to get two practice sessions in luckily.

We have been experiencing motor problems. A motor guy came to check out my engine. My distributor cap was the problem. Unfortunately, the problem wasn’t discovered until after qualifying. I had qualified 4^th.

The engine problem now discovered. I was able to go out and win the dash. I was the first female to win a dash at Columbus Motor Speedway in a NASCAR Whelen Late Model dash! It was a great moment.

Columbus moved the feature race up because of the rain forecast. In the feature race, I started 9^th. I started the fifth row on the inside. The inversion was 10 and I should have started 6^th but the track did some weird stuff and I started 9^th. There was a lot of brake checking and everyone seemed to be trying to wreck each other. I was able to avoid the wrecks. I made a few costly mistakes causing me to finish 9^th. My point’s competition, David Carter, pulled off the track and did not finish the race so I was not hurt in the point’s standings for the state points.

This week was my last week of school! Yeah! I finished up my last exam and headed to Sonic on Wilmington Pike in Kettering. Surprise, it had rained all morning! I still had several fans come and I signed autographs from 5-7 pm. Several of my fans were from Facebook. It was nice to get to meet the people in the pictures. I got to meet the district manager from Sonic, Mark Laxton, as well. They asked me to do two more autograph signings at other locations. Next Wednesday, I will be at the Sonic in West Carrollton from 5-8 pm.

I also met with Julie Carpenter Grice from Indianapolis. She owns a company called Smart Sponsorships. She is a great mentor and I look forward to a long relationship with her and her company.

It was a very good week. My crew is awesome. They are always patient and helpful. Their experience and wisdom is comforting. They are my rock! I really enjoy the ride to Columbus when we all go together. We have great conversations on the way.

I am headed up to Michigan this next week for the CRA race with Gary. I hope to meet with some owner’s that have truck teams and possibly talking about racing a super late model some.

Sloan moves into First Place...

            Another great week, but off the track! We are making some good progress with local sponsors and getting a meeting set up with company for next year. I also moved into first place in the Ohio State point by 1 point.   We believe that is a first time in America for a female to lead the NASCAR Whelen State points. We will be contacting NASCAR this week to verify but have not heard back as of yet.   It is still a long way to another championship.

There is a lot of well funded and skilled completion that are also wanting that spot. It is going to be interesting. Last year, it was the second to last race of the year before I locked up the NASCAR Whelen Rookie of the Year for Ohio.   This year it’s not going to be as easier. I am going to be meeting with Julie on Thursday.   She has a marketing company in Indianapolis.   Tony from Rainmaker’s referred her to us. Hopefully, she can help put us on track for a sponsor for 2011-12 seasons in a NASCAR Camping World Truck. Last Thursday, we were going to meet with Stephanie at Kil-Kare during a test. However, we chose to not test because of the green track (because by Wednesday’s rain).   I am going to reschedule for sometime late this week. I’m kind glad because my brain was toast after staying over at Dayton Christian for 2.5 hours to get some help for an Algebra 2 exam.   I have a couple of people that are working on sponsor from Facebook but I am not holding my breath on those.
            As I am writing this, according to NASCAR’s official site, http://hometracks.nascar.com, I am currently leading the state points by 1 point!   The exciting thing for me is that in the national points, I am 101^th in the nation. I am the top ranking female in America in my division. NASCAR only ranks the top 500 drivers so I am doing very well nationally as well. I didn’t get to race this weekend so I will probably drop in the rankings.
            I did not race Friday night at Kil-Kare because it was Main Event cars also referred to as Super Late Models. I did go watch with Gary and the crew. It was strange sitting in the stands. It was a great evening with a ton of cautions and good racing.
                        Saturday, we headed to Columbus despite the threat of rain. We got the car unloaded. The rain came and then Columbus called the race. My car got a wash if you want to look at the bright side! I suppose it all works out. I have been battling a cold for a week so not feeling my best!
            We made a decision on the t-shirts color and design. It was so nice to have a response from everyone with your ideas! It was a great help. I will start accepting pre-orders next week for those that have said they want them before them parade.
            I will be doing an autograph signing Wednesday, June 9^th, 2010 at the Sonic Drive-In on Wilmington Pike in Kettering. We plan on having my car on display as well. Of course, the weather has to co-operate!
            The good news is, I will be finished with finals on Wednesday. Dayton Christian has been great working with me with my schedule. However, right now it seems unfair that my brother is out of school and I am still going!
            White-Allen Chevrolet has graciously given me a cool truck to ride in for the July 3^th parade. My GreenPro Landscaping NASCAR Whelen LM will be on a trailer following behind as long as it in one piece from Friday nights race at Kil-Kare. It is going to be a busy day with the parade and then heading straight to Columbus afterwards. I would like to start out my article by thanking all the veterans! My crew consists of mostly veterans. Their talents, “can-do” attitudes, and work ethics are all things I admire and appreciate. Link Burgess is a WW II vet and was knighted by the British for his effort in the Battle of the Bulge.
            I was very honored and humbled to be chosen as the Grand Marshall for Franklin’s July 4^th Parade. It is a huge honor! I want to send a sincere thanks to Mr. Lukas, the city manager for his support of me. Also, many thanks to the parade committee and the whole community. The parade is Saturday, July 3^rd and starts at 10 a.m. I will be available for a short time after the parade for autographs and pictures. I have to leave for Columbus Motor Speedway to race the NASCAR Whelen Late Model race so I will not be staying too long afterwards. If my car doesn’t get torn up racing the night before at Kil-Kare, we are hoping to have it on a trailer for the parade.

            I also appreciate all of you that are following my races on Twitter and Facebook. We have made the decision to shut down the MySpace account. Also, my Facebook page is nearing or probably will be over the 5,000 friends limit by the time this article is published so please join my Facebook fan page. Also, thanks to all the fans that voted on the t-shirt designs posted on my Facebook page. A decision will be made this week. T-shirts will be for sale on line shortly and we hope to have them available for purchase at the parade. I know many of you have asked to have them purchased so you can wear them to the parade. We are working hard to make that happen.
            I was also invited to do an article for a British on-line racing news website. I have seen a tremendous response on my Facebook account from Britain as a result. It is humbling to see all the fans from all over the world.
            We made a lot of changes to my car during the week and I was really looking forward to testing on Thursday at Kil-Kare. However, Mother Nature did not cooperate and practice was cancelled due to rain. It put us in an awkward place-not knowing on race day if the changes were what we needed.
            With the fuel from Este’s oil, I ended up getting a strong fast time on Friday night in the Rebel 105.9 NASCAR Whelen Late Model. Kil-Kare did a five inversion so I started on the inside third row back. I still did not know for sure how my car was going to handle in the long run. As it turned out, it was very loose. The right rear tire grew more than expected and threw the stager off.   In the middle of the race, the car was super. I should have tried to pass then but I thought the two Oakley Asphalt cars in front of me would get slower as the race went on.   They didn’t get slower and I settled for 3^rd in the feature.
            I want all of the readers to know that we work on a shoe-string budget. We haven’t gotten an anchor partner this season.    However, we are grateful for GreenPro Landscaping and Koehlke components in the co-anchor spots. I know it is tough for most people in this economy but it is very frustrating for me.    The competition in Columbus, that is beating me, have a shop full of parts and tires plus extra engines. I hear they have three 40k motors!!   We don’t have those luxuries. I have to do well on the track plus put the car back in the trailer in one piece. (Two track one car) I am not complaining, quite the opposite. I am very blessed to have the opportunities I do have.   The people and local partners behind me are a God send as well. It is just amazing that we are consistently finishing most weeks in the top five when we are being out spent 5 to 1.
            Columbus did not have any races last weekend. The Nichols family that owns Columbus Speedway is a terrific group of people. Their son comes down and races at Kil-Kare as well.
            In addition, I had a wonderful time two Sundays ago at the Arthritis Walk at Sawyer Point in Cincinnati. I went as part of Cincinnati Bone and Joint’s team; it’s where my mom works. Her boss, Dr. Patrick Kirk, was an honorary co-chairman. It was fun meeting several fans while I was there. The best part was they were giving away free massages! It is a great event and they raised a lot of money for arthritis cure research.
            Also, I am on the cover for Susie Magazine for the month of June. Susie is a wonderful Christian girl’s magazine. I enjoyed working with the editor Susie Shellenberger and her writing staff.
